Choose a resort for the trip you want to take
The best Disney World resort for a family depends on room capacity, the parks you will visit, your budget, and how much time you want at the hotel. A higher room category does not automatically mean the easiest journey to every park.
Start with three requirements: how many people need beds, which park you expect to visit most, and the total accommodation budget including taxes. Then compare specific room types on Disney's resort directory. The examples below are a shortlist to investigate, not live price quotes.

Check Disney's transportation information for current options. Not every hotel offers every mode, and a route to EPCOT is not necessarily a direct route to its main entrance.
Compare rooms, not just resort names
An Art of Animation standard room and a family suite are different products. Similarly, a studio and a one-bedroom villa can have different cooking and laundry facilities. Read the specific room description rather than assuming all rooms at a villa resort have a full kitchen.
For Caribbean Beach, use the current room listings instead of older descriptions of pirate rooms. At Pop Century, Disney describes the Hippy Dippy Pool's flower-shaped water jets; do not book expecting the hot tub described in some older guides. See the official pool details.
Check the facilities you will actually use
A hotel upgrade is easier to justify when the group will use its facilities. If you plan to leave early and return late every day, extra room cost may deliver little practical benefit. If you need frequent downtime, nearby food and a manageable room-to-pool walk may matter more than a dramatic lobby.
Use current dining listings too. The Contemporary's restaurants include Steakhouse 71, rather than the former Wave restaurant. At Coronado Springs, distinguish the Toledo restaurant from Dahlia Lounge before planning an evening.
Evaluate benefits without assuming savings
Eligible hotels offer benefits such as Early Entry and particular Lightning Lane booking windows. Confirm your property's eligibility. Then compare the complete cost with alternatives, including transportation and parking where applicable.
For a hypothetical five-night stay, a $100 higher nightly room rate adds $500 before taxes. Ask what you gain for that amount: capacity you need, a route that simplifies repeated trips, or facilities you intend to enjoy. This is a comparison method, not a Disney quote.
Put the resort into the itinerary
